The Inside Scoop – Meet Our High School Intern, Hannah Rackham!

I’m the oldest of three siblings in an animal-loving family from Aurora, Colorado. Growing up in Colorado was a dream filled with incredible hikes and beautiful, snowy winters. I have three very amusing dogs, a rabbit, and a calico cat in my household. One of my favorite hobbies is playing water polo. When I’m not volunteering, I’m playing with the Los Angeles women’s 18 and under water polo team. I’ll also have the opportunity to play in the Junior Olympics in Orange County at the end of July – and I couldn’t be more grateful!

I am the high school activities and nursing intern at Broadview, and I personally believe I have the best job out of all the interns (But shhh don’t tell them I said that!). My daily tasks consist of leading fun activities, and helping out wherever I can. I am learning new things constantly! I learn everything from how to give a Christian Science treatment, to learning about old cars beyond my generation from a Broadview guest.

My favorite part of this internship is spending time with the residents and employees. Working at a Christian Science nursing facility, it’s part of my daily job to see everyone as they truly are (a child of God). I’ve been so blessed to work at Broadview, and to see this Christian Science nursing work practiced in action.

I’m also a member of the National Leadership Council for high school students, that focuses on building leadership skills while relying on Christian Science and blessing the community and the world. Last summer, I went to Peru and volunteered with NLC. We built a local library and worked with young, rambunctious boys, teaching English and of course, playing futball!  For the summer in between our junior and senior year of high school, we do an internship for a CS organization – which is what I am joyfully doing today!

If you see me around, don’t hesitate to say hello – I’d love to chat with you about my experiences in Colorado, Broadview, or abroad!
