The Haven at Broadview
Enhanced Independent Living - A Home Away from Home

What Is the Haven?
The Haven at Broadview is a welcoming hospitality offering for independent guests who are seeking a spiritually nurturing, Christian Science–centered environment.
It is designed for those who do not require Christian Science nursing care, but who would benefit from time, space, and community in an atmosphere grounded in prayer, love, and dignity.
The Haven offers a true home‑away‑from‑home experience—a place to pause, listen more deeply, and feel supported while remaining fully independent.
Why the Haven Exists
Life sometimes brings moments of transition—after an emergency, during a move, or when one simply needs a peaceful place to regroup and pray.
Following events such as the Los Angeles fires, Broadview prayerfully asked: How can we extend our healing atmosphere to meet these needs?
The Haven is our response—making thoughtful use of existing space to offer safe, spiritually grounded refuge for individuals who have a place elsewhere, perhaps with a family member, but who need a place of enhanced living.

Who the Haven Is For
The Haven is for individuals who:
- Are fully independent and capable of self‑care
- Have a place to go if needs change
- Are navigating a life transition, displacement, or time of spiritual renewal
- Desire a calm, Christian Science–centered environment without the need for nursing care
All guests are welcomed with clarity, respect, and care, and with the shared understanding that the Haven is an enhanced independent living offering, not a care program.
What a Stay at the Haven Includes
Guests enjoy:
- Private rooms in a peaceful setting with patios or balconies
- Chef‑prepared meals, served in community
- Housekeeping and maintenance services
- Quiet indoor and outdoor spaces for prayer, study, and reflection
- Optional participation in spiritual and recreational activities that uplift and inspire
Guests are warmly encouraged to take part in community life while also honoring appropriate privacy. Persistent withdrawal into isolation is discouraged, for healing and well‑being are nurtured through shared presence and loving interaction. As Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures reminds us, “Whatever holds human thought in line with unselfed love, receives directly the divine power.” (S&H 192:30) Participation in community supports this unselfed love and its practical, healing effect.

Clarity About Care

The Haven is intentionally structured as an enhanced independent‑living experience:
- No routine personal or nursing care is provided
- Christian Science nursing services are separate and available elsewhere at Broadview through standard admission processes
- Guests are expected to have alternative housing plans in place should their needs change
This clarity protects guests, Broadview, and the integrity of Christian Science nursing care.
A Natural Extension of Broadview’s Mission

For more than a century, Broadview has provided a healing atmosphere rooted in Christian Science.
The Haven extends that atmosphere in a new way—meeting today’s needs with prayerful wisdom, while maintaining clear boundaries and purpose. It stands alongside Broadview’s nursing and visiting services as a complementary expression of care, hospitality, and love. From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “Church is that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race, rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas.” (583:14)
An Invitation to the Field
The Haven is more than a place—it is a consciousness of welcome.
We invite:
- Church boards and care committees to share this resource with those who may benefit
- Practitioners and friends to hold the Haven in prayer
- Supporters to help make stays possible for those who might otherwise be unable to afford them
Together, we can extend Broadview’s welcome and continue to see Love in action.
