Dear Friends,
May is a time of cherishing mothers and mothering qualities. How grateful we are for Mary Baker Eddy’s courage to assert the motherhood of God, as well as the fatherhood. This brings such a tender touch to the theological creeds she addresses in our Lesson sermons. The comforting mother bird imagery of Psalms 36:7 comes to mind: “How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.” However, mother birds, are also fierce defenders of their children – often diving at birds much larger than themselves to protect their nestlings.
Let’s note God’s mothering qualities in our Bible Lesson sermons this month and affirm that Mother love is active in our lives.
