Healing Moments – June 2015 Newsletter

Did you know we have outpatient services? A letter of gratitude for them from the field.

Dear Broadview,

I’d like to express my gratitude for your wonderful nursing staff.  Last November, my daughter and I went to Disneyland for a surprise evening trip with some friends.  While waiting in line for our 1st ride, my daughter was jumping around and fell.  She hit her head on the railing and got a cut above her eye.

The kind people in line around us gave us some tissues to stop the bleeding and we left the line to go to First Aid and get a band-aid.  While we walked, I shared truths with my daughter who kept repeating to me over and over, “Mom…I’m fine.”

At First Aid, they were very kind and gave us a quiet room to sit and pray while we did our best to stop the bleeding above her eye.  We called a Christian Science practitioner who said she’d pray for us. Then, the thought came to me to call Broadview.

I’ve been to Broadview NUMEROUS times to read on Thursdays & Sundays, visit my grandmother when she lived there, and with my daughter’s school on field trips.  One service I wasn’t sure if they provided was out-patient service.

I called and spoke with Mark [one of our Christian Science Nurses], and he assured me that yes, Broadview did have out-patient services and that I was welcome to bring my daughter by any time.  We left Disneyland (after no rides) with our friends and made a stop at Broadview around 10:30pm.

Mark was so kind and helpful.  He was able to apply steri-stirps to hold the cut closed, and assured my daughter that all was well.  He told us to just leave them in place and they would naturally fall off as the wound healed and that it sometimes took a few days to a week but that nothing else needed to be done.

By lunch the following day, the steri-strips were coming off. So, we called Broadview to see if they would take a look for us.  Mary was on duty, and she smiled and said, “You don’t need to do anything.  They did exactly what they were supposed to do.”  She showed us how to cut a discreet bandage to put over the cut for school and sent us on our way with supplies.

My daughter had a wonderful healing, and the staff at Broadview was so kind and helpful.

Thank you so much for your assistance and for your prayerful support.

A Grateful Parent
