Healing Moments – August 2016 Newsletter

  • At Broadview, one of the holidays the guests celebrate together is New Years Eve. I was working in Happy New Year!the evening this last New Year’s eve and was invited to help “bring in” the New Year after dinner. The Christian Science nurses and the office staff joined in the fun. We all met in Sunshine Lane where the guests were finishing their dinner. When I walked into Sunshine Lane, I could see that the guests had on all kinds of shining hats. They were various shapes and colors and some hats had tassels coming out of them. The guests also had noise makers that rattled or made a tooting sound. We opened bottles of sparkling apple cider and poured everyone some cider in fancy-looking glasses. At midnight, we shouted HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We toasted the New Year and tooted our horns and shook our noise makers.  We laughed and smiled and sang a song. The whole room was aglow with cheer. It came to me that we were all celebrating God’s goodness. We were not celebrating another year gone by, as there were no years to show on our faces. Only life, laughter, and joy. It was my best New Year’s Eve ever!
  • One of our Christian Science nurses has been gently encouraging one of our guests to come out of her room to join other guests in Sunshine Lane while dining and to enjoy some fresh air with walks around our garden. The change has been remarkable! She is now seen frequently ‘out and about’, and we are grateful for the change in thought and step of progress.
