My name is Alice Silver, and I am from Massillon, Ohio. I am heading into my senior year at Principia College studying Business Administration. At the college, I work as a student manager at the restaurant on campus, play lacrosse, and am on the Public Affairs Conference Board.
As a high schooler, I chose to attend Principia College because of the atmosphere there that I knew I wouldn’t get at any other college. Principia is the only college for Christian Scientists, and I thought that would be a great opportunity for to be in such an environment. I also like that it is small as I can form good relationships with my professors and be a part of any board/activity/sport that I want.
For the past month, I have worked at Broadview as an Activities Intern and Nursing Floor Assistant. My role includes helping out on the Christian Science nursing floor as well as with activities (just like my title implies!). I read to the guests and help with meals, games, and testimony meetings and different activities like that.
A big reason I was inspired to come to Broadview was because my grandma was in a regular nursing home for about a year, and I was really interested in learning how the Christian Science nursing homes work in contrast to that. I am learning a lot about patience and healing since I have been here. It is amazing to be in this environment where everyone at Broadview expects healing.
When I leave Broadview, I am going to Boston for an internship at Longyear Museum. I will work in the finance department. I am excited because, for a lot of the time I am there, I will get to stay with my sister, as she lives in the city.
As for what I want to do after I graduate, that is still undecided! Hopefully, with my two internships this summer, I will narrow down my options!
