Inspirational talks for staff and guests

Each week a Volunteer Christian Science “Practitioner of the Week” is asked to pray daily for Broadview and to be “on call” for specific support if an immediate facility need arises. On Wednesday, November 11, 2015, Broadview was treated to two inspirational talks from one of its recent volunteer practitioners, Summer Wright. Impressed with the inspiring Christian Science treatments he emailed us during his week on duty, we invited him to consider addressing our staff and guests on a metaphysical topic of his choice. We were delighted when he agreed!

Summer Wright, C.S.

Summer was brought up in Christian Science and has a deep respect for Christian Science nursing because his mother, Stephanie Wright, was a Journal-listed Christian Science nurse for many years.  Summer and his lovely wife, Ashley, recently relocated to Southern California from Elsah, Illinois. Summer was in the part-time practice of Christian Science for nine years, and he is now a Journal-listed Christian Science practitioner, which means that he is committed full-time to helping others find healing through Christian Science prayer and treatment.

His first talk, for Broadview staff, was titled “Our thoughts of the Bible utter our lives” – inspired by Mary Baker Eddy’s Message to The Mother Church 1902 (see page 4:28). He emphasized that the Bible is actually a story about each one of us when we identify ourselves with the various Bible figures and with Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Each of these individuals exemplified the Genesis 1 man – created in God’s image and likeness, rather than the mortal man of Genesis 2. He then followed this with a talk for our residents and guests entitled “Redefining Reality.” This talk reminded us that Christian Science demands our examination of what we accept as real, acknowledging that, “The effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind.” (Science and Health 162:9)

We are delighted to welcome Summer to our team of volunteer practitioners!* Visit his website at viewsofheaven.us and keep an eye out for a feature piece by him in one of our upcoming e-newsletters. You won’t want to miss it!
