Summary of responsibilities
Under general supervision of the Executive Director, manages and coordinates the business operation of Broadview, which includes financial reports, and accounting. Manages the day-to-day operation of all the facility’s non-nursing functions to ensure steady, cost-effective delivery of services. Negotiates contracts and oversees expenditures. Manages all functions of human resources, including hiring, firing, disciplinary action and salary administration. Administers Medicare, Medi-Cal and insurance billing functions.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares all necessary monthly statistical and financial reports with the Administrator for the Board of Directors.
- Prepares monthly general ledger.
- Balances accounts receivable, aging reports and performs routine end-of –month accounts receivable closing activities
- Prepares, maintains, processes and distributes bi-weekly payroll.
- Maintains personnel files and verifies employment information according to established guidelines.
- Handles accounts payable invoices and filing
- Prepares bank deposits.
- Tracks and verifies payment against monthly invoices.
- Prepares monthly patient billing.
- Oversees billing of Medicare and private insurance as well as reporting payments.
- Manages the implementation and compliance of all government regulations, including, but not limited to: OSHA, Board of Health, EEOC, Medicare/Medi-Cal, state, local, and federal requirements for emergency/fire/earthquake plans, consistent with the safety and well-being of patients, personnel and property in accord with concurrent policies established by B.O.D.
- Ensures that the proper training, and documentation thereof, is completed for each existing Broadview employee and new hires, as required by law, e.g. emergency evacuation plans, MSDS, blood-borne pathogens, Federal work eligibility, worker’s compensation, etc.
- Provides oversight and maintenance of corporate, vendor, personnel, financial, patient and other files and documents.
- Receives and resolves inquiries from patients, vendors, staff and others.
- Works with other departments to ensure accurate handling of billing and payroll.
Other functions:
This position oversees business equipment to ensure that all equipment is maintained and operating properly. Other duties as assigned from time to time by the administrator or the Board of Directors.
Requirements:
- Good organizational and time management skills with experience.
- Computer proficient with a working knowledge of computer accounting.
- Requires knowledge of MS Windows, excel, word, Office and Outlook programs.
- Ability to learn other accounting systems.
- Knowledge of and facility with accounting and general business practices
Educational requirements:
A minimum of four years of college or two years of college and four years of experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to anticipate potential problems in advance and develop creative solutions.
- Must be able to manage complex situations with patience.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational and time-management skills with experience in performing a variety of tasks concurrently.
- Computer proficient with a working knowledge of computer accounting.
- Requires knowledge of Microsoft programs.
- Ability to quickly learn other software and internet-based programs, such as Medicare DDE, CareTracker nurse charting, etc.
- Must be comfortable managing and disciplining other workers.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves in-office work, but the Business Manager must also be available after-hours to handle issues as they arise. Limited travel may also be required.
